Tuvalu Coastal Adaptation Project (TCAP)

With an average elevation of just 1.83 metres, Tuvalu faces significant challenges from rising sea levels and severe storm events. Wave overtopping and inundation threaten the nation’s drinking water, food security, energy supply and infrastructure, prompting the Tuvalu Government to engage Hall to undertake critical coastal protection works.

Having successfully delivered the first two stages of the Tuvalu Coastal Adaptation Project (TCAP), Hall has constructed more than 15 hectares of elevated land, reef-top and berm-top barriers, and a 170-metre-long Seabee seawall across three coral atolls.

Hall is now undertaking the third stage, TCAP 1B, which involves reclaiming an additional 6.66 hectares of raised, climate-resilient land in Funafuti.

As one of the largest climate resilience initiatives in the Pacific, the project will help protect Tuvalu’s communities and critical infrastructure from the growing impacts of climate change.
